I Can't Follow You If You Don't Move
Andrew Maughan & Graeme Durant

Rogue Artist's Studios, Manchester
Preview - 28th October 6-9pm

I Can’t Follow You If You Don’t Move is the fourth in a series of exhibitions by Andrew Maughan and Graeme Durant. The pairing is based on a shared understanding within their individual practices of the interchange between the processes of thinking and making. By addressing the format of the collaborative exhibition-model and the double act, the work of Maughan and Durant confidently exposes the moments where cohesion and dissonance - or slippage - takes place.

Andrew Maughan's paintings exist in the unstable border between figuration and abstraction, visible form and nebulous formlessness. His work pushes these mutable, fluctuating states exploring their own materiality, surface qualities and the emergent disparity between the real and depictions of the real (or the visible) through painting.

Graeme Durant is a gatherer of redundant domestic and industrial objects. Through a process of recycling, improvisation and low-tech construction methodologies, he attaches new meaning to the original materials. Durant reorders a formalist sculptural vocabulary of form volume and matter creating objects brimming with possibility.

For their exhibition at Rogue, Maughan and Durant will show a body of work consisting of new sculptures and paintings.
